Pinehurst Police investigating weekend crimes

A suspect was arrested for vehicle break-ins in the Monticello Drive and Prince Manor Condominium areas in Pinehurst.

Timonte Wykwon Purvis, of Bennetsville, South Carolina, was arrested Monday by law enforcement officials in Pembroke, North Carolina, said Pinehurst Police Department in a news release.

Purvis was jailed under a $560,000 secured bond at the Cumberland County Detention Center on ‘charges stemming from numerous incidents involving stolen motor vehicles and motor vehicle break-ins throughout Moore, Cumberland, Scotland, Richmond, and Mecklenburg Counties and South Carolina.’

The suspect was served warrants from the Pinehurst Police Department.

The alleged Moore County crimes took place on February 12 when ‘nine motor vehicles were damaged and broken into, and a vehicle was stolen from the Monticello Drive area.’

The stolen vehicle was recovered two days later in Fayetteville.
