A three-vehicle accident shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 1 at Tractor Supply, just north of Southern Pines. The accident occurred at 10:15 Tuesday evening.

Additional units were paged from Southern Pines Fire & Rescue to assist after reports of victims being entrapped in two of the vehicles.

The drivers of all three vehicles were transported by EMS to Firsthealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst. Their conditions are unknown at this time but believed to be non-life-threatening.

All vehicles suffered extensive damage. One resident that lived almost a half-mile away reported hearing the crash.

N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. The highway remained shut down for an extended period of time, and traffic was rerouted down Youngs Road.

Responding to the scene were Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Morre County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and N.C. Highway Patrol.
