Whispering Pines Thrift Shop made a furry donation to Moore County Animal Services.

The money will be applied towards the care and welfare of all Moore County animals stated Sheriff Godfrey.  The Thrift Shop also donated money to Moore County’s homeless animals this past summer.

The Whispering Pines Thrift Shop wrote a letter with the donation stating, “As a result of the tireless efforts of our volunteers and the loyalty of our customers, the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop is pleased to make another donation to support the mission of your organization. Please accept our donation to assist in your endeavors and to help those in need in Moore County. We thank you for all you do and wish you continued success.”

Sheriff Godfrey accepted the donation and called everyone at the shop heroes.

“When you look at the hard work the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop has done to benefit all the remarkable organizations, it’s truly inspirational,” said Sheriff Godfrey. “Heroes are not only judged by the uniform they wear but by their actions. There is no doubt that the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop is an organization full of heroes. We are extremely blessed to have their exemplary service benefit Moore County.”

The Thrift Shop’s, Nancy Rose, stated, “The Whispering Pines Thrift Shop focuses mainly on food and clothing for those in need.  We also recognize that there are areas outside of that focus that need our support. The Moore County Animal Shelter is a great place and they do a wonderful job. Throughout the year, towels and blankets donated to the shop that may be a little too ‘worn’ to sell are always needed at the shelter, and we try to make sure every donation helps somewhere.”

In 2017, the Whispering Pines Thrift shop and its volunteers raised and donated money to the local organizations. Some of those organizations are Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services, Bethany House, Boy & Girls Club, Carthage Food Pantry, Companion Animal Clinic of Moore County, Family Promise, First Health Response (Lifeline), Friend to Friend, Life Care Pregnancy, Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills, Military Mission in Action,  Moore Free Care Clinic, Northern Moore Family Resource Center, Prancing Horse, Senior Enrichment Center, Snack Pals (Adults), Whispering Pines Fire & Rescue, and the Whispering Pines Police Department.

The Whispering Pines Thrift Shop became a charitable non-profit organization in the 1980’s serving Moore County charities. There are 70 volunteers.

The store is open to the public Wednesday- Saturday for sales. Beyond the financial contributions, they also donate clothing and household items to families in need. To date, The Whispering Pines Thrift Shop has given away $800,000 to local charities.

The Thrift Shop is located at 3199 Vass Carthage Road in Carthage.
