Sunrise Theater’s First Fridays concert series continues July 5 with the Travers Brothership, a soul, blues, funk, rock band out of Asheville. Performing as opening act is local musician and singer songwriter James Villone. The concert kicks off at 5pm and runs through 8pm, rain or shine.

Travers Brothership was started by twin brothers Eric and Kyle. As songwriters, singers, multi-instrumentalists and brothers, the 25-year-old Travers twins have been writing songs and stunning live audiences for well over half their lives.

Travers Brothership also includes singer/bassist/songwriter, Josh Clark, and keyboardist/songwriter/percussionist, Ian McIsaac. Together they create a fierce and balanced team, strengthened by the 12 years they’ve spent together on and off the road. With over 400 shows across the United States and Europe under their belts, the band has become a well-oiled machine.

The band first met in 2007 on a school bus in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Soon after, the twins were invited by Josh and Ian to get off at their bus stop for a jam in a garage.

Little did they know this was history in the making. After numerous jams and a few lessons from Eric and Kyle’s father, Travers Brothership was formed in 2012.

Carthage native James Villone is opening act.

The concert’s opening act is a Carthage native and current Southern Pines resident. James Villone is a singer songwriter whose music is a mix of modern and timeless influences for a hauntingly familiar yet refreshing take on the long tradition of folk balladry.

James has been touring, recording, and producing music for the last decade and recently earned songwriter credit on a major label release.

The free First Friday concert series would not be possible without the generous support of the season sponsor, Realty World – Properties of the Pines, and the July concert sponsor Southern Pines Automotive Group.

July’s First Friday food trucks are Roasted & Toasted and California Taco.

The Sunrise Theater is located at 250 NW Broad Street in Southern Pines. For more information, call 910- 692-8501 or visit www.sunrisetheater.com
