The Mayor of Whispering Pines announced she is running for State Senate.

“Today I am filing for the State Senate seat for District 25. After much consultation and encouragement from people I respect, I decided to throw my hat in the ring,” said Mayor Michelle Lexo,  “I believe in public service and have worked hard to represent the residents of Whispering Pines on the Council and as their Mayor.”

Mayor Lexo has been on the Whispering Pines Council for five years and has been Mayor for three years. She sits on the County Transportation Committee, the County Schools Key Communicators committee, served as the Vice Chairman of the County Social Services Board and more recently, the Quality Committee for First Health of the Sandhills.

Lexo has been one of the leading proponents for making the Area I schools the top priority on the County’s new construction list.

“This is a new Senate District and I think it is important that we give the voters a good alternative. I have several issues I want to focus on as we move forward with education being at the top of the list,” Lexo said.
