$1.5M bond for man arrested on 30 sex crimes against minor

A 38-year-old Carthage man is behind bars under a $1.5 million secured bond charged with 30 sex crimes against a minor.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced Christopher Kahele was arrested Wednesday and charged with 15 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 15 counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office, after continued investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct, charged a Carthage man on numerous charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor,” said Fields. “The offender, Christopher Lea Kahele, is a registered sex offender in North Carolina, and was on Probation for previous charges at the time of the investigation.”

The suspect has a March 3 court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
