The 15th Annual Shaw House Heritage Fair and Moore Treasure Sale will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shaw House property on the corner of Morganton Road and Broad St. in Southern Pines.

This is a free all-day event that serves as a major fundraiser for the nonprofit Moore County Historical Association. The Association owns and maintains five historical Moore County houses and the Kenneth Black Cemetery and Old Scotch Graveyard.

The Heritage Fair offers something for the whole family including unique vendors, food, live music, demonstrations of old-time crafts, treasure sales, farm animals for petting, and a set of stocks that will provide a unique photo opportunity, so bring your camera. The Shaw House (c.1820), Saunders Cabin (c.1770), and Garner House (c. late 1790s) will be open for tours. The Tobacco Barn Museum highlights historic agriculture of the pine-hills area. This event will occur rain or shine.

In conjunction with the Heritage Fair is the Moore Treasures Sale. There will be collectibles, pottery, jewelry, art, antiques, vintage books, toys, glassware, and much more, all at great prices. All proceeds benefit the ongoing efforts of the MCHA in its mission to collect, preserve and share the rich historical legacy of our county. Cash or checks are preferred. This event is also free and open to the public.

A membership table will also be present. For a new annual membership of $35 (individual) or $50 (family), you will additionally receive a special, limited commemorative postal envelope as a collectible. There will also be a $2 raffle for a $50 Gift Card from our sponsors, Burney Hardware, Chapman’s Restaurant, Tractor Supply, Lowes Foods, Mason’s Restaurant and Harris Teeter.
