2 suspects charged vehicle break-ins Whispering Pines

The Whispering Pines Police Department announced the arrests of Devonte Erwin and Rene Pinson, both of Aberdeen, who were each charged with felony break and enter a motor vehicle (10 counts), felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony financial card theft, and misdemeanor larceny (two counts).

On October 9, numerous vehicle break-ins were reported to the Whispering Pines Police Department. During the investigation, Erwin, 20, and Pinson, 21, along with two additional subjects, were determined to have been responsible for the crimes.

This was a multi-agency investigation involving the Whispering Pines Police Department and the following law enforcement agencies: Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Pinehurst Police Department, and the Southern Pines Police Department.

Erwin and Pinson were also arrested on Oct. 29 by Pinehurst Police for breaking into cars.

Erwin and Pinson were taken before a Moore County Magistrate where both suspects were given $50,000 secured bonds.  Their court date is November 12 in Moore County District Court, and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
