2nd COVID outbreak Quail Haven

The Moore County Health Department has been notified of confirmed positive COVID-19 test results for three staff members of Quail Haven Village located in Pinehurst. In long-term care or congregate living settings, a COVID-19 outbreak is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases.

Testing conducted at Quail Haven November 10 through 12 generated the facility’s three positive COVID-19 test results. Weekly testing for all residents and staff of the facility will continue until the conclusion of the outbreak. An outbreak is considered concluded if there is no evidence of transmission following a 28-day period.

With the addition of Quail Haven, Moore County’s cumulative total of COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care and congregate living settings is now 14 since the pandemic began. Of the 14 total outbreaks Moore County has experienced, nine have been declared concluded. Currently, there are five active COVID-19 outbreaks in Moore County long-term care facilities:

• Peak Resources Pinelake

• Accordius Health at Aberdeen

• Magnolia Gardens

• St.Joseph of the Pines

• Quail Haven

This is the second COVID-19 outbreak for Quail Haven, the facility’s first outbreak was declared concluded as of November 9. That outbreak generated a total of 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases and one resident death due to COVID-19 infection.
