Four people were arrested Friday during a traffic stop after police found a stolen gun and hemp plants.

Whispering Pines Senior Police Officer McNeill pulled over a car on Niagara-Carthage Road and found inside the vehicle seven stolen hemp plants, valued at $7,000, less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from Whispering Pines Police Department.

“The Moore County Sheriff’s Office was notified and assisted with the traffic stop investigation and located the owner of the stolen hemp plants,” said the news release. “The MCSO charged all four subjects with the felony theft and felony possession of the stolen hemp plants.”

Arrested were Darrell Wayne Powell, of Parkton, NC, who was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and possession of marijuana; Kish Lamont Pate, of Fayetteville, NC, who was charged with possession of marijuana; Saiheim Edward Gamble, of  Fayetteville, NC, who was charged with possession of marijuana; and Nadia Lea Pinkston, of Fayetteville, NC, who was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities found a stolen .380 caliber firearm and less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana in Powell’s possession and seized less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana from Pate.

Powell was placed under a $20,000 secured bond at Moore County Detention Center while Pate, Gamble and Pinkston were cited for their violations and then turned over to the custody of the sheriff’s office.
