Seven Moore County Odyssey of the Mind teams competed in the Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition on March 2 at North Carolina Central University.

Five of the seven teams placed first and are heading to the state competition on April 6 at East Carolina University.

Results from the regional competition:

Pinecrest High School, Problem 1, Division 3: 1st place
West Pine Elementary Team B, Problem 5, Division 1: 1st place
West Pine Elementary Team A, Problem 5, Division 1: 1st place
West Pine Middle School, Problem 1, Division 2: 1st place
West Pine Middle School, Problem 2, Division 2: 1st place
West Pine Elementary Team C, Problem 5, Division 1: 5th place
West Pine Elementary Team C, Problem 3, Division 1: 6th place 

Odyssey of the Mind ‘is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college,’ said Odyssey of the Mind website. “Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level.”
