A two-vehicle accident in Aberdeen has claimed the life of a man Wednesday.

Just before 9 a.m., first responders were paged to a head-on collision near Roseland Road and Blackbird Lane.

Authorities arrived on scene to find a dump truck and pick-up truck had collided. The dump truck’s cab was fully involved in flames.

The driver of the pick-up truck, James Whitaker, passed away at the scene. He was a member of the Carthage Fire Department.

The driver of the dump truck was taken to Moore Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

A portion of Roseland Road from Batchelor Farm Road and Shepherds Trail was closed for several hours.

State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

In February, the Carthage Fire Department lost another member in an accident. Firefighter Corbin Rogers passed away from injuries he sustained in a car accident near Vass.
