Local municipalities are declaring a State of Emergency from Hurricane Florence.  The Mayors of Aberdeen, Foxfire Village, Village of Pinehurst, and Southern Pines have declared a State of Emergency.

Aberdeen, Foxfire Village, and Southern Pines State of Emergency begins Wednesday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m.  The Village of Pinehurst’s State of Emergency is effective 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13. 

The declaration advises residents to conserve food, water, and fuel. The order is also encouraging the public to stay home and keep off the roads. The order will expire on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. for all municipalities.

Moore County also declared a State of Emergency on Tuesday.  The county announced they will open an emergency public shelter in Carthage from Hurricane Florence beginning at 5:00 pm Wednesday September 12, 2018.

The public shelter will be located at the Moore County Ag Building located at 707 Pinehurst Ave. in Carthage.
