What better sign that the weather is warming than a grand opening ceremony of an ice cream shop.

The new place to satisfy your ice cream cravings opened last month in the heart of Aberdeen, and the community gathered Friday at Sweet Carolina Ice Cream for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

The refurbished  store front alley shop in Aberdeen’s historic downtown is located at 108 Main Street.

The 50s style ice cream shop has hard and soft serve ice cream, according to their social media page. Some of their newer flavors include banana split, cotton candy, lemon sorbet, and chocolate chip mint. They also offer milk shakes, waffle cones, and lots of yummy toppings such as PB syrup, Fruity Pebbles, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Local ice cream connoisseurs have great things to say about Sweet Carolina Ice Cream. An Aberdeen resident who lives around the corner said, “Awesome place to grab a sweet treat, very quaint.”

“Wow, we went for the first time, and the ice cream is delicious,” said a review on the shop’s Facebook page.  “It definitely taste homemade, and it’s so good. The only negative thing about this place is once you finish your ice cream you’re very sad because you have none left. Everybody needs to go and support this local business. Staff is very friendly.”

Sweet Carolina Ice Cream is open Monday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sunday 12 – 6 p.m.
