In an effort to provide the community with life saving equipment, The Village of Pinehurst recently installed cabinets containing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in three locations.

The village announced on their website Thursday that the installation was a joint effort with the Pinehurst Fire Department and the Parks & Recreation Department.

“An AED is a portable electronic device that is the only effective treatment for restoring a regular heart rhythm during a sudden cardiac arrest and is easy to operate for someone with no medical background,” said the Village of Pinehurst. “Nearly 60 percent of all cardiac arrests are witnessed by others, and if an AED is nearby, chances are improved that a patient will receive timely defibrillation therapy.”

The public access AEDs are located at Timmel Pavillion and the Cannon Park and Rassie Wicker Park concession buildings, said the village.

Village facilities are also equipped with these lifesaving devices along with fire vehicles and police cars.

Local fire departments provide free CPR/AED training on a monthly basis. Please click here for more information.
