Arrest made in Sherwood Park shooting investigation

Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced an arrest following an investigation in the shooting in the Sherwood Park neighborhood outside of Aberdeen.

On Oct.15, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting along Sherwood Drive. Michael McLaughlin, 24, was shot twice and subsequently airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill where he underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries. The victim is currently in stable condition.

On Oct. 19, sheriff’s investigators and the sheriff’s response team executed search warrants at two residences on R Sands Road in Aberdeen in connection with the shooting. The search warrants resulted in the arrest of Christian Robinson, 18, of Aberdeen.

Robinson was charged with one count of attempted first degree murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and was committed to the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond pending a first appearance in Moore County District Court on Friday, Oct, 21.
