Cameron collision results in two airlifted

An accident in Cameron on Thursday resulted in two people being airlifted to a hospital and two closed roads.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Nickens Road and Dalrymple Road around 5:30 p.m. when a Ram pickup truck made a left turn into oncoming traffic and collided with a passenger car.

The two passengers of the car, a female and a seven-year-old child, were airlifted for trauma care with serious injuries. Two helicopters were on the scene for transport. Both passengers were unrestrained, and the child was ejected from the vehicle after impact, according to authorities on the scene.

Though the injuries are serious, they are not expected to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Ram was the only occupant in the truck, was not seriously injured, and declined treatment by EMS. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Traffic came to a stop in all directions and was rerouted around the scene for an hour and a half.

The scene was responded to by Moore County EMS, Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue from Cameron and Vass/Woodlake, the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and state troopers. First responders worked to remove the vehicles, direct traffic, and clear the scene of debris.
