State officials urge teens to drive safely during deadliest days of year

A collision left one vehicle on its side on May Street late Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred in Southern Pines at the intersection on North May Street and Vermont Ave. at 6:30 p.m.

The collision involved a Lexus SUV and a Nissan Murano. The force of the impact caused the Lexus to end up on its driver’s side in the intersection.

One person was transported to the hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

May Street was completely shut down while emergency crews worked.

Rockwell Towing was on the scene and removed the Murano.

Southern Pines Police is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
