Caring Hearts for Kids of Moore had great success with their 5th annual Caring Hearts Christmas Mission.  Their mission helped 506 local children receive Christmas assistance this year. Caring Hearts for Kids of Moore is a faith-based nonprofit organization serving the needs of children of Moore County.

The Christmas Mission started in 2013, and the number of families that need assistance rises each year.

“These children don’t get to choose their situations, but together we can choose them,” said Ann Kennedy, founder of Caring Hearts for Kids of Moore.

This year, Caring Hearts for Kids of Moore also provided teenagers with Christmas presents.  Some of the other organizations take children only to 10 years old, and Kennedy told herself that teens matter too.  She knew it would be a challenge but felt that’s what God laid upon her heart to do.

One teenager that was helped through the Christmas program is Jholibett.

Jholibett is a 15-year-old girl who was in a car accident this past September.  She suffered spinal injuries and is in a wheelchair.  Jholibett didn’t want anything for Christmas for herself; she only wanted Caring Hearts to help her siblings.

Caring Hearts gave Jholibett warm clothes and a laptop computer after calling her mother to see what she needed.

“Jholibett has the biggest smile ever and a heart of gold,” Kennedy said. “We can’t forget our teenagers because they’re our children too.”

Volunteers are vital to Caring Hearts for Kids of Moore’s success and the success of the Christmas mission.  They work long hours without pay and Kennedy said the nonprofit would not exist without them.

“Every year we see the mission at work and see our community come together to help one another and that is truly priceless,” noted Kennedy. “I’m also thankful to all the donors that stepped up and helped these children this year. If it wasn’t for the generosity of the donors, these kids would have been disappointed. The donors showed Caring Hearts For Kids Of Moore that you can make a difference in a child’s life!”
