Family Nurse Practitioners Marcia Ballard and Leslie Purvis of Carthage Family Care joined FirstHealth of the Carolinas and FirstHealth Physician Group on Oct. 1, 2022.
Ballard is a longtime Moore County provider and has been caring for patients in Carthage and surrounding communities for more than 25 years.
“I am excited for our practice to join the FirstHealth family,” said Ballard. “FirstHealth is a quality health care system that offers many services and subspecialties to benefit our patients.”
Ballard obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Duke University.
Purvis joined Carthage Family Care five years ago having previously worked in emergency and critical care nursing.
Purvis earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
The practice serves the health care needs of patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly.
The office will be closed Oct. 3 through Oct. 16 for training on new billing and medical records systems, and will reopen as FirstHealth Family Medicine on Monday, October 17. Office hours and phone numbers will remain the same.
The practice will transition to FirstHealth’s Epic electronic health record, providing patients with access to an online patient portal through FirstHealth MyChart. MyChart allows patients the opportunity to manage appointments, review test results, communicate with their provider and even refill a prescription all from the convenience of a phone, tablet or computer.
According to Dan Barnes, D.O., president of the FirstHealth Physician Group, the practice is a welcome addition to the FirstHealth network.
“Carthage Family Care has served the health care needs of the Moore County community for many years,” said Dr. Barnes. “We look forward to partnering with Marcia and Leslie to continue their longstanding tradition of providing high-quality, compassionate care.”
