Cassandra Bandy, of Carthage, took a chance on a $20 scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.

Bandy bought her lucky 100X The Cash ticket from the Exprezit on U.S. 1 in Vass.

She arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to collect her prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,016.

This is the second win for Moore County resident in less than a month. Edward and Joan Gosselin, of West End, bought a $3 Quick Pick ticket using Online Play on the lottery’s website. It matched numbers on four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000 in the July 18 drawing. The prize tripled to $150,000 when the 3X Power Play multiplier hit.

“My wife was screaming and we were both just surprised and a little bit in shock,” Gosselin said. “She kept saying, ‘We did it, we did it.’”

Gosselin claimed his prize and took home $106,516. He said they would celebrate their big win with a vacation to the Midwest.
