Chicken house destroyed by fire

A chicken house was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve.

The fire was dispatched around 4 p.m. Saturday. The chicken farm is located on Benard Purvis Road, about four miles from High Falls.

The chicken house was empty at the time of the fire. When units arrived on the scene, they reported the structure was fully engulfed.

Within 15 minutes, half of the chicken house collapsed, making it harder to extinguish due to the fire being under a tin roof.
