Christmas Eve fire leads to multi-county response

A massive Christmas Eve fire in Robbins led to a multi-county response by fire departments.

Holmes Building Systems, located on Plank Road, was closed when it caught on fire Saturday around 11:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported.

First arriving fire units reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the main building.

It is too early to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters from Moore County, Chatham County, Montgomery County, Lee County, and Randolph County were dispatched to the fire.

A water haul strike team was called from around Moore County to bring tankers in to supply water to engines and ladder trucks. This was a massive operation involving over a dozen trucks.

The water point operation was on Plank Road, and officials closed the road.

Holmes Building Systems is a mobile home manufacturing facility. They operate an assembly line process. The main building holds mobile homes at different stages of their assembly. The main building is the one that caught on fire. At least one double-wide mobile home sitting near the burning building also caught fire.
