Ritter won't run for reelection

Moore County Board of Commissioners released their July 17 regular meeting highlights.

~ Recognized Kristen Seawell for volunteerism with Animal Operations.

~Received update from the Citizens Pet Responsibility Committee.

~ Approved on consent agenda: minutes; tax releases/refunds; budget amendments; grant
agreements with Friend to Friend, Moore Free Care Clinic, and Sandhills Center; NC Forest
Service contract; economic development agreement with Partners in Progress; 2017 Essential
Single Family Rehab Loan Pool Program Assistance Policy and associated documents; 2017
Urgent Repair Program and associated documents; 2018 Urgent Repair Program and associated
documents; DSS contract with Right Transportation; DSS Memorandum of Understanding with
Moore County Transportation Services; Memorandum of Understanding between Public Safety
and GIS; FY 18-19 Home and Community Care Block Grant.

~ Held a public hearing and approved General Use Rezoning request from Highway Commercial B2
to Residential Agricultural 40 RA-40 of the northern portion, being approximately 5 acres, of
three parcels, being approximately a total of 18.97 acres, located along US 1 Hwy at 104 Branch
Trail, to result in the entire three parcels being zoned RA-40.

~ Held a public hearing and approved a Conditional Use Permit for the use of a 4-unit Bed and
Breakfast in a single family residence located at 1351 Dowd Rd, Carthage.

~ Held a public hearing and approved proposed text amendment to the Unified Development
Ordinance.

~ Approved contract amendment with Aramark Correctional Services, LLC for inmate food services.

~ Tabled contract with Department of Transportation for roadside litter/debris removal.

~ Approved Board of Education request to provide funding of $2,453,000for the design of the New
Pinehurst Elementary School and site investigation activities.

~ Approved Memorandum of Agreement with Moore County Schools and Sandhills Center for
annual funding in the amount of $193,342 from Sandhills Center to MCS for two Behavior Health
Intervention team members (to include salary/benefits, computer, training).

~ Approved contract between the County and Ronald J. Milewski, M.D. for service as the Medical
Director for Moore County EMS and E-911 Center.

~ Received tax settlement reports and charged Tax Administrator with collection of delinquent
taxes.

~ Charged the Tax Administrator with the collection of taxes for the tax levy year 2018-2019.

~ Adopted Position Classification and Pay Plan for Moore County effective September 15, 2018.

~ Authorized placement of the Article 46 quarter cent sales tax referendum on the November
2018 ballot.

~ Reappointed Frank Thigpen and Kathy Liles to the Board of Adjustment.

~ Appointed Commissioner Gregory as voting delegate to NCACC annual conference.

~ Appointed Daniel Dent and Ron Atkinson as ETJ members of the Town of Vass Planning Board.
