COVID-19 outbreak identified Tara Plantation

According to a press release from the Moore County Health Department, they have been notified of confirmed positive COVID-19 test results for eight residents of Tara Plantation of Carthage. In long-term care or congregate living settings, a COVID-19 outbreak is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases.

Testing conducted at Tara Plantation from December 7 through December 10 generated the facility’s positive COVID19 test results. Weekly testing for all residents and staff of the facility will continue until the conclusion of the outbreak. An outbreak is considered concluded if there is no evidence of transmission following a 28-day period.

With the addition of Tara Plantation, Moore County’s cumulative total of COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care and congregate living settings is now 16 since the pandemic began. Of the 16 total outbreaks Moore County has experienced, 10 have been declared concluded. Currently, there are six active COVID-19 outbreaks in Moore County long-term care facilities:

• Peak Resources Pinelake

• Accordius Health at Aberdeen

• St. Joseph of the Pines

• Quail Haven

• The Greens at Pinehurst

• Tara Plantation of Carthage

In total, there have been 3,567 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Moore County to date.
