Crews respond to rollover crash

A man escaped serious injury after rolling his pickup truck in Southern Pines. The single-vehicle accident occurred on South Knoll Road near the entrance to Mid-South Club just after 8 p.m.

The driver was traveling toward Midland Road when he lost control of the truck at a curve. The truck ran off the shoulder of the road, slammed into a culvert and flipped over coming to a rest on its side off the road. The driver was evaluated by EMS but did not require transportation to the hospital.

He could later be seen being administered a field sobriety test and placed in handcuffs and into the patrol car. Law enforcement could only confirm that charges are pending at this time.

One lane of South Knoll Road was shut down while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

Southern Pines Police are investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police Department.
