Crews respond to two rollover wrecks on same day

A second rollover on the other side of Vass occurred just a few hours after the first one left a truck upside-down in a ditch.

This time, a truck rolled over and landed upright beside the road. The single-vehicle accident happened on Union Church Road at the intersection with Ring Road on Saturday.

Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue was dispatched around 2:30 p.m. and arrived to find a Ford Ranger off the roadway.

According to officials on the scene, the truck was traveling east toward Vass when the driver went to slow down to make a left turn onto Ring Road, but there was a malfunction with the brakes, causing them to lock up. This caused the truck to skid off the road and roll over.

Both male occupants got out of the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived. EMS evaluated them, but they were uninjured and did not require transport to the hospital.

One lane of Union Church Road was shut down briefly while crews worked the scene.
