Crews respond to two-vehicle crash

Two people were injured after two vehicles crashed near Pinehurst on Thursday night.

Pinehurst Fire Department responded to the scene at the intersection of Highway 211 and Juniper Lake Road around 10:15 p.m.

On arrival, a Toyota sedan was in a ditch with heavy damage to the driver-side door and windshield. The other vehicle, a GMC pickup truck, had front-end damage with the front driver-side wheel ripped off the axle. The air bags deployed on both vehicles.

According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, the Toyota was traveling westbound on Hwy 211 approaching Juniper Lake Road. The driver lost control of the car while approaching the traffic light, where it collided with the GMC that was stopped at the light on Juniper Lake Road.

A passenger in the GMC sustained minor injuries and was checked out by paramedics at the scene. The driver of the Toyota sustained cuts to his face and arms and was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for treatment.
