CVB launches Sandhills Pour Tour Passport program

The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is launching a new passport program that encourages holders to earn stamps and prizes while exploring local breweries and towns. The Sandhills Pour Tour Passport program begins on April 1.

The passports are free and can be obtained at the CVB office in Southern Pines, or at any of the seven participating locations. Passport holders are eligible for prizes once they visit all locations and receive special logoed stamps from all participating businesses.

Passport participants include Hatchet Brewing Company in Southern Pines, the Southern Pines Brewing Company locations on Air Tool Rd., and Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines Growler Company, Pinehurst Brewing Company, Railhouse Brewery in Aberdeen and the James Creek Cider House in Cameron.

Passport holders with fully-stamped passports receive a 16-ounce Sandhills Pour Tour mug, a limited edition Donald Ross 150th anniversary challenge coin and their name will be entered into a drawing to win a future two-night stay in the Pinehurst area.

“This program is designed to drive business and visits to participating partners where passport holders can get stamps with any purchase, but it also encourages them to explore some of our Moore County towns,” said Phil Werz, president and CEO of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “The passport includes several QR codes with links to great shopping, dining, golf information and more. There are also links to area hotels and transportation, if needed, as we want people to experience the Pour Tour responsibly and always designate a driver.”

The CVB has created a special landing page for more detailed information including a list of local events hosted by passport partners. Visit www.HomeofGolf.com/SandhillsPourTour. The CVB is located at 155 W. New York Ave., Suite 300 in downtown Southern Pines.

All prizes associated with fully-stamped passports will be presented at the CVB office. The CVB is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area is home to nearly 40 golf courses within a 15-mile radius in the Sandhills area. Courses in the Home of American Golf consistently rank among some of the finest in the state or the country.

Pinehurst No. 2 will host the 2024 U.S. Open and will be the USGA anchor site for future championships in 2029 (men’s and women’s), 2035, 2041 and 2047.

Last September, the USGA announced it will move its second headquarters to Pinehurst and construct Golf House Pinehurst, set to be completed by the end of 2023.

Pine Needles will host the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open from June 2-5, the fourth time the historic Donald Ross layout will host the prestigious championship.
