Deadly chase ends in Moore County

A deadly police chase ended a few miles just inside Moore County Thursday night on Highway 24/27 near the Westmoore community.

The chase involving a Biscoe Police Officer and two suspects in a 2009 Chevy Impala began in Biscoe and came to an end after the Impala crashed on Highway 24/27 near McDuffie Road.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Impala was traveling east at a high rate of speed fleeing Biscoe Police.

The driver of the car, Chase Bruton, went across the double yellow line, lost control, and went off the left side of the road. The car overturned and collided with a tree before coming to rest on the passenger side. Bruton and passenger, Emanuel Allen, were not wearing seat belts. Twenty-four-year-old Bruton was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Authorities called Carolina Air Care to land at the intersection of Highway 24/27 and Tarry Church Road. Allen was flown to Wake Med Trauma Center where he is in critical condition. 

The exact cause of the chase is unknown at the time of this article, and this is a developing story. 

N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist on the scene along with Moore County EMS, Biscoe Police, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Robbins and Westmoore Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
