Pinehurst residents will soon be hearing noise pollution as crews begin demolishing Pinehurst Elementary School on Tuesday.

The former school is being torn down to make room for a new school, which will be twice the size.

“During demolition, residents should expect increased noise, vibrations, and construction traffic in the area,” said the Village of Pinehurst’s website.

The demolition is scheduled to be completed in two months.

Since August, students have been attending classes in modular buildings at Rassie Wicker Park until the new $30.9 million school is completed.

The two-story school, which will serve 800 students, is scheduled to open in August 2021. Moore County voters approved a bond referendum last year to fund the construction.

The Village said if you have any questions about the construction to please contact Moore County Schools at 910-947-2976 or the Village of Pinehurst Planning Department at 910-295-1900.
