Dr. Collins is a board-certified addiction psychiatrist who has dedicated his entire professional career to the treatment of alcohol and drug problems of all types. He graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine where he also completed a psychiatric residency.

Dr. Collins serves as medical director for FirstHealth Behavioral Services, overseeing the multi-level, integrated services to assist patients in their recovery from the physical, emotional, social and spiritual effects of their illness.

FirstHealth behavioral services include adult inpatient psychiatric services, addiction recovery services including a partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient services, and a professionals support aftercare program, as well as a variety of outpatient clinic services.

Prior to joining FirstHealth, Dr. Collins had a chemical dependency practice with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he founded the Clinic’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center. Dr. Collins has achieved widespread recognition for his treatment of professional athletes in the Cleveland area and has received several local and national awards for his work.

Dr. Collins is also very involved with advanced biochemical research in alcoholism. He has written numerous articles and book chapters in professional publications and lectures widely on substance abuse and psychiatric topics.
