A single-vehicle accident resulted in the driver being charged with Driving While Impaired after an accident on Roseland Road in Aberdeen early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched at 1:09 a.m. to an SUV in the woods near Blackbird Lane. Upon arrival, they found a white Toyota Sequoia with extensive damage lying on its roof with the lights still on and the radio playing but no one around the vehicle.

Law enforcement located the uninjured driver walking on Sandpit Road, and she was taken back to the scene. After failing the breathalyzer and sobriety testing, the driver was placed under arrest by the Highway Patrol.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Aberdeen Police, Pooles Towing, and North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
