Driver charged DWI striking pedestrian Neville's

A driver has been arrested and charged with driving while impaired after striking a pedestrian in downtown Southern Pines Friday. The accident occurred in front of Neville’s Club on W. New Hampshire at 11:20 p.m.

The female driver was heading west on New Hampshire towards Bennett Street when a man walked out in front of her car. She struck the man, and the impact sent him into the windshield of the vehicle.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene and immediately called for the man to be airlifted to a trauma center. The helicopter was later canceled, and the victim was taken to Firsthealth Moore Regional with what is believed to be serious injuries.

Kelly Myers, 30, of Southern Pines, was charged with driving while impaired by Southern Pines Police.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS and Southern Pines Police Department.
