A motorist lost control of their vehicle in the rain Saturday afternoon and crashed into a highway sign.

The crash happened on U.S. 1 Bypass North near the 690 exit, according to retired Cypress Pointe Firefighter, Frank Staples.

Initially, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Vass Police, and Moore County EMS were paged out to the accident; however, upon arrival, Cypress Point Fire & Rescue cancelled the call to Southern Pines Fire & Rescue and EMS due to no injuries.

According to Staples, “The truck is probably totaled, and the damage to the sign will cost several thousand dollars.”

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
