Driver extracted from truck after crashing in Robbins

A driver had to be extracted from a pickup truck involved in an accident in Robbins Wednesday morning.

An uptick in accidents across Moore County continued Wednesday morning just before 9:30 a.m. The accident occurred in the 1500 block of Plank Road.

High Falls Fire and Rescue were dispatched to assist Robbins Fire and Rescue as a second unit due to the driver being trapped in the small pickup truck. When the first fire truck arrived on the scene, they reported the vehicle flipped on its driver’s side.

Plank Road was immediately shut down, so crews could work safely to get the driver out of the vehicle. Both fire departments worked to cut the roof off the truck to remove the driver.

The male driver was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to Moore Regional Hospital by Moore County EMS. His injuries are unknown, but he is in stable condition.

According to authorities on the scene, the driver was heading to Robbins when he ran off the right side of the road. It appears he never corrected and hit an embankment causing him to roll several times before landing on its side in the road.

Plank Road was closed for about thirty minutes before one lane was opened. Robbins Police Department was on the scene as well as N.C. State Highway Patrol and Moore County Public Safety.
