A driver escaped his overturned vehicle unscathed after a Tuesday evening car crash in Pinehurst. The single-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 15-501 around 8 p.m. and took first responders over an hour to completely clean it up.
The driver of the vehicle involved, a Crown Ford Victoria, was headed south on Highway 15-501 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. The Ford did not strike any other vehicles but did sustain allover heavy damage as a result of flipping.
According to authorities on-scene, the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and declined treatment from EMS.
The crash occurred just past Tommy’s Crown gas station and resulted in delayed traffic from 8 p.m. to shortly after 9 p.m. Traffic on Highway 15-501 was brought down to one lane to divert oncoming vehicles around the scene of the crash.
The southbound lane was closed until the vehicle was safely removed and all debris was cleared from the area. Due to inclement weather, first responders worked quickly to ensure everything was safely cleaned up before a storm rolled in for the evening.
Responding to the scene were the Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol. Rockwell Towing arrived to remove the vehicle from the site of the crash.
