Dunrovin Country Store has been a staple in Moore County for many years. It’s known for its inventory of unique gifts and a wide selection of foods, but recently birds have become a new attraction.

Two years they decided to add a Tropical Bird Park, according to owner Patrick Milcendeau. Currently, they have 118 birds who have found their forever home. The birds are all rescues, and they are not rehomed. They have Macaws, cockatoos, rosellas, African greys, eclectus, sun conures and even a toucan.

The park is free to the public. It is funded by Patrick, and they accept donations.

When asked why Patrick decided to build the zoo, he responded “this is my way of giving back to the community.”

The store changed ownership about seven years ago when Patrick and his wife, Jo, purchased the store. The store has two stories with an impressive inventory.

According to store manager Kelly Council, they “have anything you could possibly need for home decor. If you can’t find it anywhere else, you can find it here.”

Dunrovin has a vast selection of foods and unique home decor items. This includes Amish goods, foods, candies, homemade goods, an onsite bakery, 32 flavors of Hersey’s Ice Cream, and a vast selection of home decor items.

Dunrovin Country Store is located at 5456 US-1 just outside of Vass. The store and bird park are open from 9 a.m. –  6 p.m., seven days a week.
