A fake deployment letter encouraging families and friends to make a payment in order to contact a deployed service member is currently going around at Fort Bragg.

“This is a scam,” said Fort Bragg, NC Facebook page Thursday.

“A fake deployment letter signed by the Fort Bragg Garrison Commander COL Kyle Reed is encouraging families and friends of deployed service members to subscribe to a website called MilVPN-Usaf. The scam website attempts to deceive families/friends to register, select a plan, and make a payment in an effort to contact service members while deployed,” said the social media page.

Officials are urging family members who would like to connect with their deployed soldier to contact your Family Readiness Liaison or chain of command.
