Family and dogs escape house fire

A home located at the corner of Dead Man Curve Road and Highway 211, outside of Seven Lakes, caught fire shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The occupants and their dogs were able to escape the fire unharmed. According to the Seven Lakes Fire Chief, there was a cat missing, but he could not confirm if the cat made it out of the burning home.

The first fire units on the scene reported heavy flames and thick smoke showing from the single-story brick residence. 

Fire units were on scene within minutes and fought the fire in the cold rain. They were able to get the fire knocked down quickly.

The fire caused heavy damage to one side and the attic of the home.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire, and Eastwood Fire and Rescue was diverted to Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue for standby for other incoming calls. 

The exact cause of the fire is being investigated by the Moore County Fire Marshal.

Responding to the scene were Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue, West End Fire and Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire and Rescue, Eastwood Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and Moore County Public Safety.
