Quick response by fire departments saves Robbins business

With a quick response of area fire departments, a Robbins’ business was saved.

Williams Tire and Auto, on the corner of Highway 705 and Melton Street, caught on fire Sunday. The call went out before 6 a.m. By 6:15 a.m., the fire was extinguished.

The fire was contained to one area on the Melton Street and S. Highland Avenue side of the building.

Firefighters had to cut a large entry in a bay door to gain access closest to the fire.

One witness who watched the firefighters work told Sandhills Sentinel, “It could have been much worse because that’s a big building.”

Multiple agencies responded to the fire to assist. It appears the fire started at a heating source, but it is being investigated by the Moore County Fire Marshal.

No one was at the shop at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries putting the blaze out.

Responding to the scene were Robbins Fire and Rescue, High Falls Fire and Rescue, Westmoore Fire and Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire and Rescue, Moore County Fire Marshal, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Robbins Police Department, and Moore County Public Safety.
