Just before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, authorities received calls of a fire behind Buggy Town Coffee on McNeill Street in Carthage.
Carthage Police were first on scene and reported heavy smoke and flames showing from a camper. A scooter was parked near the camper and after a quick search, Carthage Police reported there was no life hazard.Â
Carthage Fire Chief Tyner told Sandhills Sentinel, “it was a small fire, and no one was hurt.”Â
At this time, they’re unsure what caused the fire, but it is being investigated.
Mutual aid from Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue and Eastwood Fire Department were called but later canceled. Carthage Fire and Rescue could handle what they had on scene. They had the fire knocked down within 10 minutes.
Responding units were Carthage Fire and Rescue, Carthage Police Department, and Moore County Fire Marshal.
