Fire destroys home in Jackson Hamlet

A home in the Jackson Hamlet community in Aberdeen was destroyed by fire Friday night. Fire crews were paged just before 7 p.m. to the 200 block of Cotton Street.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the rear of the residence. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.

Part of the roof at the rear area of the home caved in while fire crews battled the blaze, and that area of the home was completely destroyed.

Afterward, crews sprayed foam in the smoldering areas of the structure to knock down any remaining hot spots.

The fire started at the back of the home, and the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Eastwood Fire & Rescue, and Moore County EMS.
