Fire destroys unoccupied house in Taylortown

An unoccupied house in Taylortown was destroyed by fire in the early hours Sunday morning. The fire on Lincoln Avenue was paged out around 2:30 a.m.

Nearby residents called to report a home on fire in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. When fire crews arrived on the scene, the home was fully involved with heavy smoke and flames showing. It was reported that no one had lived in the home for several years.

Firefighters had difficulty accessing the fire due to the overgrowth of bushes and trees surrounding the structure. Forestry was called in to assist with the fire as well as numerous fire crews. The house was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Responding to the scene were Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, Eastwood Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, West End Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Public Safety, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
