Firefighters rescue pregnant woman crash

Firefighters rescued a pregnant woman in a car accident Friday night. The accident occurred on the Highway 24/27 overpass and U.S. Highway 1 near Cameron.

Firefighters had to cut the door off an SUV in order to free the pregnant driver from the vehicle. She was transported by EMS to the hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the pickup truck was evaluated at the scene and did not require transport to the hospital.

The accident shut down the overpass to traffic for over 30 minutes while emergency crews worked.

The Highway Patrol was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the accident were Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Highway Patrol.
