Five Guys opens May 16

Five Guys is slated to open in March in Southern Pines. The 2,600 square feet restaurant is currently setting up shop at the new shopping center located at 10840 U.S. Highway 15-501 and Commerce Avenue, across from Lowes Hardware.

A Five Guys spokesperson stated in an email to Sandhills Sentinel they are scheduled to open sometime in March; however, they do not have a set date yet.

The corporate-owned restaurant will feature burgers, fries, hotdogs, grilled cheese, drinks and milkshakes.

“Our menu is simple,” said Five Guys.  “We focus on a few things so that we can do them well.”

Five Guys’ burgers can be customized with 17 free toppings. Their milkshakes can be customized with many options as well.

“We often offer fresh mix-ins like strawberries and bananas as well as chocolate, salted caramel, coffee and cookies and cream as an example,” said Five Guys.

Five Guys opened its first restaurant in 1986 when “Jerry and Janie Murrell offered sage advice to the four young Murrell brothers: “Start a business or go to college.” The business route won and the Murrell family opened a carry-out burger joint in Arlington Virginia.”

They only use fresh ground beef and cook with peanut oil. Five Guys do not use freezers at their locations, just coolers.

Five Guys also pride themselves on partnering with local organizations for fundraising nights.
