Aberdeen Police investigating armed robber at Speedway

Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday night, authorities were dispatched to the intersection of Main and Blue Street in Aberdeen with reports of shots fired.

Aberdeen Police Chief Colasacco said, “Shots were fired at the intersection, striking a vehicle.”

No one was injured in the random shooting, and no arrests have been made at this time.

This is the third shooting Sandhills Sentinel has reported on in a little over two weeks.

Moore County experienced two shootings hours apart on October 22 that sent two people to the hospital.

The first shooting occurred in Southern Pines on West Michigan Ave where a male victim was airlifted to a trauma center. He has since been released from the hospital.

Hours later, just after midnight, another shooting took place on Countryside Drive outside of Aberdeen.

When authorities arrive on the scene, the male victim had left driving himself to the Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, according to Moore County Sheriff’s Department.

Three suspects entered a home and shot the victim in the leg, said the sheriff’s department.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
