Ray Collins, the uncle of LaTanya Jones, who passed away Friday, has contacted WHISK Entertainment and Cardinal Park, located in Pinebluff, in assisting with a fundraiser on funeral expenses for his family members whose lives were lost in a car accident near Pinebluff on Friday, July 2. The local community is deeply saddened that this loving family of four, Tesmond Thomas, 28, LaTanya Jones, 26, Levi Thomas, 6, and Judah Thomas, 4, all from both Rockingham and Hoffman, died in the accident after their vehicle hydroplaned and hit an eighteen-wheeler during rainy weather.
The family did not have insurance. The family is reaching out to all communities for donations to cover funeral expenses for the entire family at $30,000. In order for a viewing and funeral to go forth to honor this family, $30,000 must be received by Wednesday, July 7 and payable to McLeod Funeral Home 310 Courtland Dr. Sanford, NC 27330, who is handling arrangements.
If you would like to help in meeting the needs of the Thomas and Jones’ families during this difficult time, here are a few options of what you can do:
1- Contribute to a Facebook fundraiser page. “The Thomas/Jones Family Funeral Expense Fundraiser.” There may be some delay with Facebook, keep in mind donations are needed by this Wednesday.

3- Go to Cardinal Park 657 S. Walnut St. US Hwy. 1 Pinebluff, NC and purchase a T-shirt from “The Scented House” which will be stationed there between the hours of 9 a.m.until dark. Funds from the T-shirts will be applied to funeral costs.
4- Buy a fish sandwich or plate at Cardinal Park from noon until sold out. The purchases from the fish fry will go toward funeral cost and are sponsored by the family of LaTanya Jones. The fish fry will be Wednesday, July 7.
5-Leave a cash donation or a check payable to McLeod Funeral Home at Cardinal Park with a representative of the Jones family who will be there to collect it between the hours of 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
