Cooper encourages schools local governments to drop mask mandates

The Moore County Health Department will be hosting a face mask distribution on Friday, July 17.

“We will be distributing face masks from 7 pm-9 pm in Downtown Southern Pines in front of Chef Warren’s, located at 215 NE Broad St,” said the health department in a news release.

Masks will be given out, one per person, and free of charge. There will also be COVID-19 informational hand-outs available.

The Moore County Health Department continues to encourage everyone to “Know Their W’s” and continue to exercise caution when out in public: Wear a cloth face covering if you will be around other people, Wait six feet apart and avoid close contact, and Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.

In addition to these measures, everyone is urged to continue to adhere to the following guidelines:

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

• Stay home, especially if you are sick.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with your sleeve/elbow or with a tissue and be sure to throw the tissue in the trash.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
