Hospital security officer receives BEE Award for compassion, kindness

Angela Baldwin, a security officer at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, is the most recent recipient of FirstHealth’s BEE Award, which recognizes employees who go above and beyond to fulfill FirstHealth’s core purpose – To Care for People.

A patient’s family nominated Baldwin for the way she handled a rapid response call at the Reid Heart Center.

“Angela responded to a call on my father as he walked in the hallway with a physical therapist and my daughter, his granddaughter,” the nomination letter reads. “A few hours later, a nurse told my daughter a security officer asked to speak with her. Angela had come back to the unit to check on her after recognizing how upsetting the event was for her. Angela’s compassion and care did not go unnoticed.”

Baldwin has worked at FirstHealth for one year. JC Huggins, the security supervisor at FirstHealth, said she’s been an asset to the security department since the beginning.

“Angela consistently goes above and beyond for staff and patients in a way that exemplifies our core purpose,” he said. “She works hard and has a heart to help others.”

The patient thanked Baldwin for the support she offered her daughter and for each act of kindness her family experienced while her father was hospitalized at FirstHealth.

The BEE Award (Beyond Exceptional Expectations) honors non-nurses who help support nurses in delivering exceptional patient care. Nominations can be made to honor patient care technicians, specialty technicians, respiratory therapists, food and nutrition staff, transport or other colleagues outside of nursing.
